Buy Amarok [2HB] 2023 > Bonnet Protector – 2HJ 072 195 in the US – Genuine Volkswagen Parts in Stock

Product Overview

The genuine Volkswagen Front Bonnet Protector for the re-engineered Amarok [2HB] platform is classified as an authentic OEM/Genuine heavy-duty exterior accessory. Positioned seamlessly along the front lip of the engine hood, its primary function is to intercept, deflect, and bounce away loose road gravel, silica grit, flying insects, and airborne organic matter before they can slam into the paintwork or lower windscreen. By creating an aerodynamic slipstream and a physical layer of armor, this premium deflector stops the paint from micro-fracturing and rusting over time. It is molded from high-impact, UV-stabilized dark smoke tinted acrylic plastic and features the iconic embossed “Volkswagen” lettering, giving your utility truck a more aggressive, ruggedly premium off-road profile.

How It Works

The leading edge of a modern pickup truck’s bonnet acts as a blunt wall against incoming road debris. As you cruise at highway speeds on US dual carriageways or navigate gravel farm tracks, stones thrown up by forward traffic impact the vehicle with high kinetic energy. The Volkswagen 2HJ 072 195 bonnet protector works by acting as a sacrificing shield. Its angled surface area absorbs these impacts while its aerodynamic lip safely redirects the air column—and lighter particles within it—up and over the cabin windscreen.

Over thousands of miles of driving across the US, non-genuine universal stick-on bonnet guards quickly demonstrate their flaws. They frequently use inferior, brittle plastic that fades to an opaque grey under UV exposure, and their mounting tape degrades, causing the guard to detach at speed. Common wear indicators or symptoms that signal it is time to upgrade to a genuine replacement include micro-cracking around the mounting brackets, deep pitting from gravel impacts, or a guard that rattles loudly against the grille line when driving into high headwinds.

Performance Benefits

• Advanced Paintwork Protection: Shields the most vulnerable section of your vehicle’s nose from costly stone chips, paint chips, scratches, and micro-cracking.

• Aerodynamic Streamlining: Helps direct flying bugs, grit, and road grime away from the forward view of your windscreen, maintaining clear visibility.

• Zero-Drill Installation Safety: Uses custom-engineered clips and isolation pads that mount directly to existing factory apertures underneath the hood, protecting the underlying steel from rust.

• Aggressive Off-Road Styling: Features an aesthetic dark smoke tinted design with authentic “Volkswagen” lettering to elevate your truck’s presence on the road.

• Maintained Vehicle Resale Value: Preventing front-end paint blistering and edge corrosion directly preserves the market value of your vehicle.

Build Quality & Engineering

The authentic Volkswagen Amarok [2HB] bonnet deflector highlights the strict material metrics demanded of factory-approved additions. Constructed from a premium, heavy-duty thermoformed acrylic polymer blend, it exhibits exceptional impact toughness alongside resilient flex resistance.

Installation & Maintenance

Installing your new 2HJ 072 195 bonnet protector is an approachable task for DIY enthusiasts, professional mechanics, or independent garage technicians. The entire process takes roughly twenty minutes and requires no drilling into the steelwork. The process involves popping open the hood, thoroughly wiping down the edge surface using the included isopropyl alcohol preparation pad, adhering the protective clear paint-protection strips over the designated lip zones, sliding on the custom retention clips, and securing the acrylic guard tightly using the provided low-torque fastening screws.

To keep the protector looking brand new, simply clean it down using your standard car shampoo and a microfibre wash mitt during weekly vehicle cleaning. Avoid using highly abrasive solvent-based cleaners or automated drive-through brush washes, which can scratch the high-gloss dark smoke finish. Before completing your order, we highly recommend utilizing our platform’s VIN lookup tool to ensure absolute part coordination.

Durability & Storage

Every genuine bonnet protector supplied through Volkswagen Parts US is kept in controlled, flat-rack warehouse storage to preserve its structural form. The guard is delivered enclosed in a robust, oversized shipping container complete with custom corner guards to protect the delicate acrylic edges from chipping or fracturing during domestic dispatch. If you ever choose to remove it temporarily for detailing work, it can be easily unbolted and stored flat in a cool, dry environment away from sharp objects.
